Top 3 Websites Preventing Porn Addiction

Top 3 Websites Preventing Porn Addiction

I’m a wife to my college sweetheart and mom to 3 kiddos, ages 3-8 years old. I have a degree from Baylor University in Early Childhood Education and am passionate about childhood development and educating parents to better understand, better connect with, and better communicate with children of all ages.

I will never forget the day I understood what pornography really was (not just a movie someone “dirty” bought from the XXX store on the interstate) and grasped how negatively it can affect youth and adults—not just in the world, but right here in my close-knit community and circle of friends.

Each time I hear of a friend’s husband struggling with porn addiction or a friend’s young child being exposed for the first time to pornography, my heart aches in the exact same way as when I first grasped the effects of pornography in my late teens.

Over the years, I’ve worked very hard to uncover the online websites that I lean on heavily as a parent for information and advice. Researching solutions in the porn-addiction space is not for the faint of heart. I’ve spent countless hours talking with friends, and scouring the internet and have carefully curated “the best of the best.”

I’ve narrowed the list down to my top 3 websites for porn awareness & addiction support for parents.

Top 3 Websites for Pornography Awareness & Support

  1. Fight the New Drug

These guys are the new kid on the block and are quickly becoming one of the best resources in the world as they are leading this dialogue in a very refreshing way. A few reasons we recommend Fight The New Drug:

  • They offer an interactive, research-based introduction highlighting porn’s negative impacts on individuals, relationships, and society. With a mix of infographics and short videos, this overview would be great to experience with your children & teens.

  • A digital library of thousands of out articles on virtually any subject related to pornography consumption–covering breaking news, real life stories, and current events related to the issue.

  • A conversation blueprint for tips you need to successfully navigate a conversation about porn with your partner, child, sibling, parent, friend, or your neighborhood mail person.

2. Protect Young Minds

Here’s why we think Protect Young Minds is a great resource:

  • They emphasize preparation & prevention offering a Quick Start Guide for Parents to teach you the basics, help you get comfortable, and empower you with strategies to keep your kids safe.

  • Offer a fantastic resource to help kids heal from pornography use - a SMART Plan Guide for Parents to show you how to begin.

  • Coming soon! Brain Defense Digital Safety Course for kids—keeps them safe from cyber-bullying, pornography, and internet addiction.

3. Culture Reframed

What we love about Culture Reframed:

  • They offer a Parents Program specifically for parents of tweens and parents of teens. It includes culturally competent, research-driven, age-based educational videos, downloads, and resources for parents.

  • Culture Reframed developed a model called COMPOSE Yourself!, which helps parents respond effectively when they discover their young person has viewed pornography.

  • Social Media & Mobile Phone Contract including quick videos on how to set up guidelines and discussing spying vs monitoring. This is great for parents who have concerns about “infringing” on their child’s privacy.
